Background on the State Fair exhibits

MPDBA members have been exhibiting their dogs and putting on breed and obedience demonstrations at the Minnesota State Fair for over 30 years.  Once located in a small building near the Grandstand, we are now located in the Pet Center at the north end of Machinery Hill.

This year, 2009, as always, we will have: different breeds of dogs on the benches in the building each day; an information desk in the middle of the dog benches to answer questions about dogs and where to find breeders;, and numerous educational flyers.  We also have a selling area; all profits go to support our non-profit group in educational and legislative efforts.

Almost New this year: For the second year our demonstrations of breed and obedience, flyball, hunting etc. will be outside on the East side of the building.  The St. Paul police K-9 corps will also be there at 7 PM each night.  There will be lots more room than we had inside, and you will be able to see and hear much better.    Then, remember to come inside  and see more dogs and shop at our selling area which brings in the $$so we can continue putting on this display.

The schedule for this year is as always is subject to change depending on the health of both dogs and their humans. 

The following schedules include 1) the breeds that are scheduled to be on the bench on a particular day 2) an alphabetical list of all the breeds we expect to have on the benches and  3) the outside demos.



BREEDS ON THE BENCH: EXHIBITION HOURS 8 am - 8 pm

Breeds scheduled to be on the benches in the Pet Center in the MPDBA exhibit during the 2008 Minnesota State Fair.  Also check the demonstration schedule, below for breed clubs that will be present.  Obedience clubs and training schools will have a variety of breeds participating.

Scheduling is still in progress, more breeds are being added and some may change days or be unable to attend.  Most breeds will be there for the entire day, a few only for a half-day. Subject to change at the last moment as sometimes dogs (or their humans) become ill and cannot be exhibited.
